Life Science

I found this series at the Salvation Army for a 99¢ a book. Wikipedia tells me this series ran from ’63 to ’67 and meant to appeal to the layperson with an understanding of science.

The volumes on space exploration are particularly interesting. One page speculates that man will travel to mars and return by late 1974.

My collection is incomplete and includes the following:

  • Matter (1963)
  • Mathematics (1963)
  • Man and Space (1964)
  • Sound and Hearing (1965)
  • Growth (1965)
  • Planets (1966) — co-edited by Carl Sagan, I thought this was the most interesting of the series.
  • Drugs (1967)
  • A Guide to Science and Index to the LIFE Science Library (1967)
